What to expect
Day 1 Welcome to Stockholm archipelago
-
Stockholm
2 hours
We will pick you up at a central location in Stockholm city for a 45 minute transfer out to the Stavnäs Kayak Center. You will be welcomed by our certified wilderness and kayak guides who will be with you throughout the trip. With some Swedish Fika (beverage+snack) you sit down together with the guides and get to know the other members of the group and the itinerary for the kayak tour.
-
2 hours
Time for take-off! In stable two-person kayaks you will venture together with the guides with the wind in your hair. Soon sea birds and waves are the only sounds you hear while you leave the mainland behind and kayak eastward towards the myriad of small uninhabited islands further out in the archipelago.
-
Stockholm
12 hours
In the afternoon, the guides will show you the camp for the night and help you get comfortable with your camping equipment. After a refreshing swim, it is dinner time. Together you will cook some traditional Swedish outdoor food on the outdoor stoves. Cooking is easy on the cooking stove, and food tastes fantastic after a day in nature. Let the waves and wind put you to sleep.
Day 2 Discovering the islands and kayaking
-
Bullero Nature Reserve
8 hours
After a nice morning with breakfast and perhaps a morning swim (a “Swedish classic”), you sit together and plan the route with your guides. Day 2 will be different depending on the weather forecast and the preferences of the group, and will include kayaking through some of the most beautiful nature reserves out in the archipelago such as Hjälmö-Lådna and Bullerö on the ay back to the kayak center. During the day there will be time for both sunbathing on the cliffs, learning some kayak technique and watching some birds and wildlife. If lucky, you see the mighty White Tailed Eagle or a baltic Grey Seal.
Day 3 Wake up in nature, fall asleep in the city
-
8 hours
Depending on the route of the guides and the current weather, day 3 might be the perfect day to discover Långviksskär. The large area with it's myriad of small islands is a wonderful place to kayak. With hundreds of small islands with nothing but horizon to the east, the Långviksskär area is a cherished place among kayakers as the kayak is the perfect vessel to discover it all.
-
Stockholm
2 hours
After another full day in the archipelago, we make our way back to the kayak center. After a kayak tour de-brief we will bring you back to Stockholm city in time for dinner. After 3 full days out in nature, you have a calm mind and a tired body. Once back, you realize that a tour in nature make you start to appreciate the simple things in life that you normally take for granted, such as a shower and a bed. Perhaps a dinner at a nice restaurant before some rest?
